Chlorine in the Water
Chlorine is making the RO water rather pungent at the moment but must be added in order to met regulations. Also, because the RO water is cleaner, the chlorine taste is more noticeable. This will improve over time.
The biodegradable bags arrived well after the first snowfall and will be available again in the spring. These bags are for leaves, branches and garden refuse only and must be taken to our local landfill. We will not pick them up as normal garbage to be taken to Swift Current.
In Memory of Henry Gin

The Memorial Wall courtyard will become its permanent home and any extra funds raised will be used to further beautify the courtyard. "New" Fire Pits
Thank you to all of the residents who've come to the office to obtain new fire pit permits for our 2013 season. For those of you not aware of our policy, a fire pit permit is required for fire safety reasons. There is no fee charged for a permit, but the Herbert Fire Chief does inspect the proposed designated fire pit area to make sure it meets fire regulations according to Fire Pit Policy 2010-03. Once obtained, permits are not renewed annually unless the previous fire pit location changes; however, all new fire pits do require a permit.
The Herbert Landfill will remain open (weather permitting) until the end of Octobert. Hours of Operation will be Fridays, Saturdays 1:00 pm - 5:00 p.m. and Mondays from 8 am until noon.

Water Meter Readings
We'd like to reiterate the importance of submitting ACTUAL WATER METER READINGS on a regular basis. Every three months a Water Meter Card accompanies your water bill. It is advised that you take the time to read your water meter & submit it to the town office. Many call, fax or even email us. We'll be happy to record your six digit reading without you having to leave your house. These readings enable us to monitor actual water usage & can alleviate a lot of frustration & questions regarding your water bills.
Please check your property for signs of habitation & let the town know. Dog/cat food should not be left out if at all possible.
Proper Garbage Disposal
Due to the town being over-run by skunks, we do advise residents to discourage unwanted visitors by placing garbage bags in properly lidded bins. Bylaw 91-5 states 'Garbage being accumulated and stored for the purpose of being collected and taken to the waste disposal ground shall be kept in covered, fly-proof and water-tight containers. Please help us alleviate some of the problem by ensuring your garbage is properly disposed of.

House Numbers - Would you be easily located in an Emergency?
Police officers, firefighters, EMR, and other emergency personnel, who respond to 911 calls, say visible house numbers to identify homes can mean the difference between life and death. Protect your family and property by making sure the address on your home is clearly visible from the street!
