Herbert and District Rec Board Raffle
Once again, the Rec Board is fundraising & raffling off a 50" Panasonic Plasma TV purchased from Voth's Brandsource in Swift Current. The draw is to made March 23, 2014. Tickets are 3 for $10 or $50 a book (15 tickets). Tickets are available at: Town Office, Herbert Sports Complex, the Post Office and the Herbert Credit Union. Don't miss this opportunity!
Chlorine in the Water
Chlorine is making the RO water rather pungent at the moment but must be added in order to meet regulations. Also, because the RO water is cleaner, the chlorine taste is more noticeable. This will improve over time.
The biodegradable bags arrived well after the first snowfall and will be available again in the spring. These bags are for leaves, branches and garden refuse only and must be taken to our local landfill. We will not pick them up as normal garbage to be taken to Swift Current. These are the only bags accepted in our landfill, no exceptions.
"New" Fire Pits
A fire pit permit is required for anyone who is considering placing one in their yard & has not previously acquired one. This is solely for fire safety reasons. There is no fee charged for a permit, but the Herbert Fire Chief does inspect the proposed designated fire pit area to make sure it meets fire regulations according to Fire Pit Policy 2010-03. Once obtained, permits are not renewed annually unless the previous fire pit location changes; however, all new fire pits do require a permit.
Is closed for the winter season. We will post when the landfill is ready for re-opening in the spring.
Accepted items in the Landfill: branches, leaves, grass clippings, unpainted and/or unstained wood, gyproc, concrete, asphalt, and metal. Doors must be removed from large appliances as well as refrigerant. A $10 White fee will now be charged for any large appliance drop-off.
Arts & Crafts
Herbert's old town office (renamed William E. Redekop Centre) has been resurrected as an Arts & Crafts centre.
Most currently, a needlework club has started to meet every first & third Tuesday of each month from 1:30 - 3:30 pm. Everyone is welcome, whether you're new to the craft or a seasoned professional. There are plenty of helping hands & free advice! Bring your own project (needlework of choice) & enjoy the comraderie of fellow crafters. These sessions are free of charge. For more information please contact Beverly Seibel.
Water Meter Deposit Increase for Renters

Water Meter Readings
We'd like to reiterate the importance of submitting ACTUAL WATER METER READINGS on a regular basis. Every three months a Water Meter Card accompanies your water bill. It is advised that you take the time to read your water meter & submit it to the town office. Many call, fax or even email us. We'll be happy to record your six digit reading without you having to leave your house. These readings enable us to monitor actual water usage & can alleviate a lot of frustration & questions regarding your water bills. The 2014 Water Meter Reading Months will be March, June, September & December.
Family History Center
In conjunction with the Herbert Heritage Association the Town has offered a room in their building for the development of a Family History Center. If you are willing to part with any photos, yearbooks or any family ancestory documents (they will be documented and labelled) please bring them down to the Town office.

House Numbers - Would you be easily located in an Emergency?
Police officers, firefighters, EMR, and other emergency personnel, who respond to 911 calls, say visible house numbers to identify homes can mean the difference between life and death. Protect your family and property by making sure the address on your home is clearly visible from the street!
