Triways Garbage Pick-up

Garbage pickup is back on schedule. Large bin pickup for businesses such as Pioneer Co-op, J R Remanufacturing & Six Star, etc. is on Thursday's and regular size bin pick up for residential & businesses is on Fridays.

Once we recieve the recycling bins, pick up times will alternate weeks; garbage one week, recycling the next, etc. We'll keep you informed once we know when to expect the arrival of the recycling bins. BE PATIENT!

Please have your garbage bins on the streets as indicated in the brochure previously sent out to all Herbert residents. Herbert Avenue businesses must put bins on the street.

The town will no longer be picking up your garbage. It is your responsibility to have the bin out prior to 7 a.m. on Fridays. Please do not call the office if your garbage has been missed. You will have to wait until the next pick-up date, being the following Friday. If you feel you don't have enough garbage in the bin to warrant pick up don't feel obligated to set your bin out & wait until the following week or thereafter. It's whatever works for you.

Do contact us if you have valid concerns. Some trial & error is to be expected.

Herbert Landfill Open

"New" Fire Pits

A fire pit permit is required for anyone who is considering placing one in their yard & has not previously acquired one. This is solely for fire safety reasons. There is no fee charged for a permit, but the Herbert Fire Chief does inspect the proposed designated fire pit area to make sure it meets fire regulations according to Fire Pit Policy 2010-03. Once obtained, permits are not renewed annually unless the previous fire pit location changes; however, all new fire pits do require a permit.

Water Meter Deposit Increase for Renters

The town has always charged a Water Meter Deposit fee of $120.00 along with a Connection fee of $10.00. These costs will not change for homeowners starting new accounts, but there will be a substantial increase for those renting & setting up a new utility account with the Town. Effective immediately, renters will be required to pay a Water Meter Deposit of $250.00 along with the Connection fee of $10.00.

Reminder To All Local Businesses

Please consider renewing your business license for 2014. Non-local business licenses are $10.00. All licenses must be obtained from the Herbert Town Office.

Water Meter Readings

We'd like to reiterate the importance of submitting ACTUAL WATER METER READINGS on a regular basis. Every three months a Water Meter Card accompanies your water bill. It is advised that you take the time to read your water meter & submit it to the town office. Many call, fax or even email us. We'll be happy to record your six digit reading without you having to leave your house. These readings enable us to monitor actual water usage & can alleviate a lot of frustration & questions regarding your water bills. The 2014 Water Meter Reading Months will be March, June, September & December.

Family History Center

In conjunction with the Herbert Heritage Association the Town has offered a room in their building for the development of a Family History Center. If you are willing to part with any photos, yearbooks or any family ancestory documents (they will be documented and labelled) please bring them down to the Town office.

Attention Pet Owners

Pet Owners are responsible for ensuring that your pets are not running loose. Please do not let your pet damage or defecate on others' properties.  Please pick up after your pet and keep our community clean.  Fines can be enforced should a pet be identified.  Also, should dogs become nuisances, they can be taken to the SPCA in Swift Current & retrieved at the owners expense.

The Saskatchewan Cemetery Care and Maintenance Program (SCCMP) is a project focused on the care and maintenance of abandoned and/or neglected cemeteries throughout Saskatchewan.  The program is designed to assist individuals, families, landowners, churches, community groups, cemetery committees and service groups to restore, care and maintain a neglected cemetery. House Numbers - Would you be easily located in an Emergency?

Police officers, firefighters, EMR, and other emergency personnel, who respond to 911 calls, say visible house numbers to identify homes can mean the difference between life and death.  Protect your family and property by making sure the address on your home is clearly visible from the street!
